54225The Stony Brook  Center Chapter, comprising West, South, Southampton and Manhattan, of United University Professions structure is based on the UUP Constitution which serves as the foundation of the chapter’s organizational structure.  Since its inception in the early 1970’s UUP has been mindful of maintaining equitable representation of its members – academic and professional faculty.  To ensure equal representation of the two groups of members, the UUP constitution and UUP chapter by-laws outline the responsibilities of all elected officers, appointed officers, committees and delegates. Each group’s roles and responsibilities are outlined within the chapter’s by-laws.

The current formula used to determine the total number of delegate representatives for academic and professional faculty is one (1) delegate for every seventy-five (75) members; total delegation to the UUP Delegate Assembly is 36-39 members based on total number of members. Dual listings represent the seats held by officers, and their positions as delegates.  Delegates positions adjust up or down dependent upon attendance registration at the Delegate Assembly.
