To the entire Stony Brook UUP Chapter,

It was recently brought to our attention that we have scheduled our upcoming chapter Town Hall on the same day as Yom Kippur. On behalf of the entire chapter, I want to apologize for this serious oversight.  It was not our intention to schedule a union event on such a significant and sacred day that conflicts with the availability of our members. It is important to the Executive Board, Chapter Officers and all UUP members that we celebrate the fact that we are a collection of diverse individuals, and that we do our best to recognize and respect all beliefs, backgrounds and needs of the entire Stony Brook community and beyond.

To better accommodate the entire Bargaining Unit, we have decided to reschedule this event, so that it is accessible to all members. The new date is Tuesday, October 22nd @ 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Poetry Center, Humanities Room 2001.

We continue to encourage members to submit questions prior to the event. All submissions are anonymous.

For all the members that may have made plans or accommodations in their schedules to attend the event this Wednesday, please feel free to visit Melville E4330 where we will have some chapter leaders available in case this message does not make it to all members that had planned on attending. Otherwise, all members are welcome to come to the Chapter Office in Melville S-5415 M-F 9am-3pm.

I again want to apologize and take full responsibility for this miscommunication and insensitive omission. I also want to thank the members that brought this mistake to my attention, without whom we would not have been able to reschedule this event. If anyone is interested in speaking on this matter more, please feel free to reach out to me personally.

In solidarity,

Ed Quinn, Chapter President
