This year has been incredibly difficult for many. Here is an opportunity to open the floor for discussion about what your experience has been like in your area. What changes have been made? Do you feel represented and valued? Would you like to show up for a coworker?
Let’s talk! Hopefully we can find out what we can do on our campus to make it safer and more supportive of everyone, regardless of where they come from, who they are, what their abilities are, or what they look like.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, should not be hidden or erased. And if it is, we need to hear about it.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts do not negatively impact our environment and we need to fight back against the rhetoric that implies that people of color and other historically marginalized people somehow do not deserve their accomplishments, the positions they hold, or hope to pursue. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts are meant to help the workplace and the experience of our students and colleagues.
I hope to see you there!
Best,
Odalis Hernandez
