Dear Colleagues,

We finished our campus tour to discuss the new Tentative Agreement (whew!!).  Over the month of July Bret Benjamin, Elizabeth Hough and I visited all 32 of our UUP chapters and hosted four statewide zoom sessions, explaining the details of the proposed contract and answering any questions.  It has been great speaking with so many of you.

If you weren’t able to make it to one of the contract sessions, we have posted a video of the presentation on the Members Only website (https://uupunion.org/myuup/MembersOnly/).  Recall that the June Negotiations Bulletin is also posted there, which contains a detailed summary of the agreement plus all the new contract language (this was also sent to members’ home addresses).

Ratification voting will take place between August 10 and August 24 using an online ballot from MK Elections.  You will receive an email and a postcard mailer with a web link and an individualized access code.  Once you receive these election materials, please take a minute to vote.  We want as many of our members as possible participating in the ratification vote.

Please recall that the login process for the Members’ Only site has been streamlined to improve accessibility. Members logging in for the first time will need to do the following:

  • Create an account by clicking “Don’t have an account? Click here to create one.” This link will direct you to fill out a form with basic information, including your UUP ID (member ID) number (which can be found on your UUP membership card, or by calling 518-640-6624). You will also need your Department ID for your campus; if you work at Stony Brook Main or Stony Brook HSC, your Department ID is either 28050 or 28058.
  • You will then receive an email to the email address you provide with a confirmation code and link to set up a password for your account. This email will expire after 30 minutes.

For future visits, members will use their UUP ID and the new password they have created. If you forget your password, you can reset it by using the reset link and providing your UUP ID and the email address that you used to create your account.

As always, we welcome all questions and comments on the proposed new contract; email us at contract@uupmail.org.

In solidarity,

Fred
